Harry Shroeder and his team of experts with Manitoba Housing have been selecting fiberglass windows for a variety of challenging applications . . high rise buildings where the characteristics of fiberglass are seen to be ideal (strength, stability); northern application where low U-values and strength in extreme cold are seen to be very important as well as aesthetics where a Commercial brown exterior is seen to be important. | DUXTON Windows & Doors is very pleased to be selected for the following project . . 280 William Ave retrofit in the Historic Winnipeg Exchange District . . City of Winnipeg Police are up-dating an Winnipeg Exchange Area building including a window retrofit. The window detailing has been created to replicate historical details as much as possible while using modern technology. The second floor windows will use a fixed single hung tilt window, thereby creating an offset between the upper and lower sash. The large first floor windows will also have transom details to recreate traditional elements. Specifications for the 280 William windows include Custom Green interior AND exterior, wide exterior trim for commercial application and greater "window depth" (better shadow lines), and AFG e/Argon c/w Super Spacer glazing. | DUXTON Windows & Doors is very pleased to be selected for the following project, coordinated by Home Hardware in Meadow Lake. Sask Housing is in the process of completing a housing project in Northern Saskatchewan at Lac La Loche. The architect, Monty Sampson, has created an exceptional "clinical trial" as the new residential development has a mixture of standard and high performance wall systems and components. Monty also specified tripane fiberglass windows. As they were sliding windows, it was appropriate to create them with Heat Mirror to reduce the weight for operation. The combination of Twin Coat 88, Bayform Warm Edge and Krypton creates a thermal unit which should perform exceptionally well. Well combined with the superior characteristics of fiberglass frame and sash, this creates one of the lowest U-value units which is available.
